Free Hosting From Crucial Web Hosting

My hosting company released a new version of their affiliate program, Crucial Cash, in the beginning of February, and I just got around to signing up.

It works similar to DreamHost’s affiliate program, DreamHost Rewards, but with a much nicer interface, more features, and better payouts.

I know, I know, "Oh, god, not another one!" is probably what you’re thinking. I can’t blame you though, there are literally hundreds of thousands of websites and articles about SEO and SEM out there, why would this one be any different?

To be honest, I can’t really answer that question, but I can give some incite into what I personally have experienced when it comes to developing websites. SEO is something any developer should be thinking about before they even make a website, your client shouldn’t even have to ask you to do this. Eventually, you’ll fall into a habit of thinking in terms of SEO, and it won’t be such a daunting task.

Who else wants to increase they AdSense CTR numbers? Everyone should be raising their hand. I’m going to tell you some of the secrets I have learned about AdSense throughout the years, and more specifically what you can do to increase your CTR percentage.

If you follow these steps, you should have no problem increasing your CTR by at least two percent, and you could possibly see a 100 to 1,000% or more increase if you follow these steps well.

How To Create A Web 2.0 Badge In Fireworks

By now everyone has seen the badges, which are sometimes called seals, all over the web. There’s a really simple way to do this using ~~Macromedia~~ Adobe Fireworks.

For this tutorial, we’re going to replicate the badge seen on Crucial Web Hosting. We’re going to duplicate the curved text by using the Text On A Path feature, and the actual badge is nothing more than a star with a lot of points, or rays, since a typical star has about three to five points.

Redirect Visitors From Non-WWW To WWW Version Of Your Website With .htaccess And mod_rewrite

Apache’s mod_rewrite module is a very powerful tool. And there’s some neat tricks you can do with it. This trick involves forcing visitors and search engine robots to either the WWW version of your website, www.yourdomain.com, or the non-WWW version of your website, yourdomain.com.

This is probably not something you want to change up after your site has been up for a while, but something you should think about in the development stages of your website. Changing this after you’ve already been indexed can have some unwanted efffects, like loss of PageRank or a complete removal and then reindex of your website by the search engine bots.

Increase Your AdSense CTR By Putting Little Icons Next To Your Ads

Here is a method that is helping AdSense publishers increase their click-thru rate (CTR), and ultimately generating more revenue. If you have not seen this technique yet, then you can view a live example on one of my websites that I use for testing Adsense theories.

I am not allowed to release my exact CTR numbers, but after adding these icons next to my Large Rectangle (336×280) ads, I saw an increase in my CTR percentage by 4-6 perecent. The reason for the large variation in the percentages is that, like with most sites, certain days of the week result in more or less traffic. Either way, even an increase of 2% would be something to talk about.

Divspace Community Forum

Well, I did it. I decided to buy vBulletin today. On top of that, I ordered vBSEO as well. I’m trying to figure out what exactly I want the forums to be about, and it definately isn’t an easy thing.

I guess the hardest part is coming up with the categories. I can literally organize it a thousand different ways, and I must have edited the titles a hundred times already. The hard part is that you don’t want to get so focused on every subject, but at the same time, it makes it much easier in terms of navigation.

A Sneak Peak At The Upcoming Divspace Redesign

Well, I’ve run into a couple of setbacks with the redesign. All of them have to do with the backend. The frontend of things is pretty much set. There’s some minor things I want to add, like some images and some hidden features that aren’t available in this screenshot.

To be honest, I don’t think a blog is the best setup for divspace. It’s doing the job for now, but in the near future I’ll be writing my own backend to handle the needs of the site and to turn my vision into a reality.
